Career Highlights
I started my first business venture in my second year at University upon coming to the realisation that I could use my knowledge and skills to support others in their studies and education.
My first venture Exploding Stars became a successful tuition agency which supported me and my fellow students during the remainder of our studies and I continued the agency until I was offered a full-time position in my chosen field of Software Engineering with University of Stirling in 2012.
In the early days of my career, I was focused on supporting student information systems and developing web interfaces and data services for the University. My primary responsibility at University of Stirling was to introduce Paperless Admissions into the University’s outdated admissions process, requiring a complete overhaul of the current approach.
I very much enjoy a demanding technical challenge and this prompted my move to join JP Morgan as an Associate in 2013 to support their investment banking function within the Glasgow Technology Centre.
As my experience and knowledge developed, I progressed to undertake additional responsibilities as Scrum Master and coaching the Agile approach to Software Development within the team.
My next move came when I decided to expand on my educational experience and take on the challenge of working with the tech startup community to close the digital skills gap in Scotland, teaching an intensive 16 week introduction to programming course with CodeClan.
My responsibilities here evolved to include creating and managing an internal website development team in conjunction with the marketing function of the business while supporting the delivery of lectures for Java and Agile Methods.
I have also led high performing software teams to deliver at pace for global tech giant Skyscanner, leading one of their most business critical processes for managing the highly complex timetable data pipeline that is used to discover routes for travellers and then querying live pricing quotes from airlines.
I now devote my time to developing my own personal projects in line with my passion for health and wellness such as the MD Therapy Wellbeing Coach fitness and nutrition app to support high performance athletes and business owners reach their ultimate success in their careers while balancing their personal wellbeing.
If you have a need for a new business function, website, training module or software, feel free to contact me for an initial consultation.
Best wishes,
Marc
